Privacy Policy

Dating is personal, so your privacy matters to us. This policy explains what we collect on findlove.ng, why, and the control you keep. We process your personal data in line with the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 (NDPA) and the guidance of the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC).

Who is responsible for your data (Data Controller)

findlove.ng is operated by Bolrach Technologies Limited (“findlove”, “we”, “us”), part of the DaPsalmy Group, which is the data controller for the personal data described here. You can reach our Data Protection Officer (DPO) and privacy team by opening a ticket from the Contact page; we respond in-app.

Data we collect

Only what we need to help you meet the right person and stay safe.

• Account basics: name, date of birth (to confirm you are 18+), gender, and an email/phone for sign-in and verification.
• Profile details you choose to add: photos, bio, interests, relationship intent, and the city you date from.
• Special-category details you optionally add: faith, ethnicity/culture, and genotype. These are sensitive; we only collect them with your explicit consent (captured during onboarding) and you can remove them anytime.
• Activity: matches, likes, and message metadata, to run the service and keep it fair.
• Verification: handled by auth.ng, we store the verified status (true/false, level), never a copy of your ID or your NIN/BVN number.
• Technical data: device type, app version and coarse network location, for security and showing people near you.

Why we use it (lawful bases under the NDPA)

• Contract, to provide matching, messaging and your account.
• Consent, for optional profile content, special-category data, non-essential cookies, and marketing. You can withdraw consent at any time.
• Legitimate interests, for safety, anti-fraud, anti-scam and abuse prevention, balanced against your rights.
• Legal obligation, where the law requires us to retain or disclose data.

Profile, messaging, photo and location privacy

You decide who sees you (default visible-to-matches, private mode, or incognito). Messages are encrypted in transit and access-controlled; automated systems scan for scams, threats and harassment, and no human reads your chats unless you report a problem. You control your pictures (blur-until-match, private album, delete anytime) and images are protected against casual download. Location is shown at city level only (e.g. Lagos), never your exact address or a live GPS pin.

How long we keep it (retention)

We keep your data while your account is active. When you delete your account your profile comes down immediately and personal data is removed after a short grace period. We retain limited data longer only where necessary, to enforce a ban, resolve a safety report, or meet a legal obligation, and we never keep a deleted profile to pad member numbers.

Cross-border transfers

Our infrastructure and storage providers may process data outside Nigeria. Where personal data is transferred abroad we rely on an adequacy decision or appropriate safeguards (such as contractual protections) as required by the NDPA, so your data stays protected wherever it is handled.

Data breaches

If a personal-data breach is likely to affect your rights, we will notify the NDPC and, where required, you, without undue delay and within the timelines set by the NDPA, along with the steps we are taking.

Your rights

Under the NDPA you can, at any time:

• Access the personal data we hold about you.
• Correct anything inaccurate or out of date.
• Download a copy of your information (portability).
• Ask us to delete your data.
• Object to certain uses or withdraw a consent you gave earlier.
• Lodge a complaint with the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC) if you believe your rights were breached.

Children

findlove.ng is strictly for adults 18 and over. We verify age from your date of birth and remove any account found to belong to a minor.
